Macrophages

Origin: macrophages originate from precursor cells in the bone marrow. Bone marrow monocytes mature  and are released into the circulation where they circulate for a period of time and then migrate into the tissues.  Once in the tissue, monocytes evolve into macrophages (histiocytes) in various anatomical sites.
